The co-ed Tama Town College soccer team is a team full of school spirit and youth spirit! They will play their strongest opposition, TCS (Tama Central School) in two weeks, fighting to win the Grand Final!
Players:
Goalkeeper:
: Happy (true that his pretty wide and can cover most of the area between the goal posts, but cannot move around fast enough)
Defenders:
: Robot (yeah he's pretty good)
: Ninja (one of the best players!)
:furawatchi: : Violet (very skilled but too overwhelmed with pride to think about working as a team)
Midfielders:
: Smartie (this one's the captain)
:mimitchi: : Intel (Smartie's twin sister, also very intelligent)
h34r: : Mask (is scared of the ball)
:kusatchi: : Fruity (Sweetie's BFF, freshman who is not very good but tries hard)
Forwards:
: Sweetie (she's determined to win!)
: Secret (this one has some top secret attacking strategies)
<_< : Super (Smartie and Intel's younger brother, recommended - or forced, according to himself, by his family to join the team but not a very positive player)
Coach:
: Mr Marumimitchi (very strict but very nice as well)
The team were playing a scratch match while Mr M watched. He noticed that Violet was being an absolute show-off, kicking brilliant balls, taking them off of everybody who had it, even the people on her own side. She didn't seem to have a sense of working as a team at all.
'Hey!' Mr M raised the yellow flag, 'Come here, Vi!'
Vi got a little mad, as she was about to kick an amazing goal. 'Yes!' she replied, storming over to her coach, 'What do you want, old man?'
Mr M didn't get mad back at her. Instead, he took her over to the corner of the court and spoke to her in a serious manner. 'Vi, I really need you to start understanding what team spirit really is.'
'What team spirit?' Vi answered, still sulking.
Back over on the field, Smartie just broke through Ninja's defence and kicked a perfect goal.
'Great one, Smart!' Intel went over to her brother and slapped him a high five.
'W00T!' shouted Sweetie, as she and Fruity made a high five high in the air, 'If it wasn't for that pass to Smarty-pants, Fr00t! You've improved tons since the start of the season!'
'It was just a coincidence,' Fruity replied modestly, 'I'm usually not that good at passing.'
'Come on, Fruitilicious,' Sweetie said in a sarcastic tone, 'I wonder what made you build up on your skills so quick? When I was a freshman it took me at least a year to learn how to do such a great pass!'
Fruity blushed and didn't reply. She didn't want her BFF to know that handsome Smartie was one of her most significant motivations for improvement. The thing is, she knew that Sweetie had already taken him...
'Gee,' sighed Super, 'What's so fun about this game? C'mon, when's training finishing?'
'In half an hour,' replied Robot, who was busy practicing drills with the wired fence.
'What???' Super gasped in despair. He just could not understand why Smartie and Intel dragged him into all this. He hated Mr M's monotonous speeches about skills and tactics and the importance of practicing, etc. yada yada yada... 'Just because of them,' he thought to himself about his 'evil' siblings.
In another corner, Happy was practically slurping his drink bottle away as Secret approached him.
'Good job just then, mate!' Secret slapped him on the shoulder, 'You defended my master kick!'
Happy patted his tummy. 'Yeah, didn't I? I might just need to practice running a bit more.'
Secret nodded his head. 'Keep the good work up, mate!'
'AHH!' Happy suddenly screamed as a flying soccer ball knocked the drink bottle out of him. He turned and saw Ninja standing in post-kick position, and Mask with a frightened look on her face.
'Why didn't you get that one?' Ninja complained.
'I...I'm scared...' replied Mask, trembling.
'Seems like this one doesn't work,' Ninja sighed disappointedly, 'Looks like we'll need to find a new drill to make sure that you can get the ball, Masky!'
Happy bent down to pick up his drink bottle. As he stood up straight again, he looked towards Mask's direction. I completely understand how you feel, Mask, he thought, because I still remember the times when I myself have not conquered my fear of the ball flying towards me.
