Chapter 1
Party balloons lined the wall of my house. Gift paper lay on the floor. One last present sat in front of me.
"Aren't you going to open that?" my older sister, Payton, asked quickly before adding, "It's awfully small. It won't be a good present, I bet."
"Oh, yes it will be!" I protested. I opened it carefully and peered at a Tamagotchi! Payton smirked.
"What is that, Emma?" She clearly didn't like the toy. I stared blankly at her. "It's a Tamagotchi," I said briskly. "Oh," she said plainly. "What are you going to call it? Tama or something?" I sighed. "Oh, Payton. Sometimes I think you're from a different planet." I moaned.
It was halfly true. She had black hair; I had blonde. We really couldn't be more different.
"Well? How is your Tama doing?" Payton asked. "It's not opened yet," I said, using some scissors to cut the package open. I grabbed the toy as it was taken out of it's colorful box. I glanced back at Payton teasingly.
"Oh. And I've decided to call her Purpledotchi."
