In the small riverside town of Brigdon, there were two boys. One named Stephen Blackburn and the other named Paul Folus. These two kids were geniuses. They could invent amazing things, like time machines and hypnotising watches. Many people paid good money to get them to invent things. But they had a problem. The man that was hiring them then, was absolutely horrible. He yelled at them, swore at them and was generally really mean. But Stephen and Paul had signed a 4 year contract, which meant, without permission, they could not leave. Their evil manager was called Dig Doston and he had order them to build him an instant money maker.
You might be thinking, that if Stephen and Paul were smart, they wouldn’t have signed the contract. They wouldn’t have. That was if Dig hadn’t forced them. He had blackmailed them. He knew that they had knowledge that their friend Markus was an illegal immigrant but weren’t willing to tell the police. That was Dig’s blackmail.
Every afternoon, after school, Stephen and Paul would go over to Dig’s house just down the road, and work on the instant money maker. Dig would get back from work at 5.30pm and check they were still working then yell and swear at them a bit and finally whip them with a stick. At about 6.30pm every single evening, Stephen and Paul would plan how they were going to run away. Then Dig would come and remind them about their friend Markus and the contract they had signed.
Neither Stephen or Paul’s parents ever listened to what their children said so the duo couldn’t tell their mum or dad about what was going on. Stephen and Paul were well and truly stuck.
