'What to write?'

I mumbled to myself, and looked down onto a blank sheet of printer paper I had pinched from my brother's Xerox - thing that day. I rubbed the black pen, a memory from my caretaker on Earth, Tammy. I know the King has forbidden everyone to take things your Keeper has provided you with, as he or she expects my descendants that will need heirloom from generations past. His Majesty respects humans as our kind and devoted helpers. Even though I have seen people come back from Earth who's scrawny and hungry. Some of them are very young even. But my caretaker was a very gentle and sweet young lady, and she took care of me in a way I had to tell the king. She was so good to me, and I loved her. I still miss her. We did so many fun things. She sent me off to Hawaii, and I returned with a palm tree. For her.

'Oh, yes,' I said. 'Let's start with her.'

I started thinking back on her. She called me Roman. A sweet name. I guess my name here is also Roman. I was sent to Tammy's unit, and was her first generation, as a little baby. I was transported in an egg and hatched there. She didn't know that I could see her from behind the plexiglass wall i lived behind. So when I had friends coming over, I used to gossip a little bit with my friend about one time when she kissed somebody. After a while, she understood that I watched her, and started telling me stories.

After I had written a little, I felt tired. I lived in a little apartment in the centre of Tamagotchi Town back then, and I worked in one of the local diner's. I served pizzas and tried to keep the young naughty little schoolkids away from the cigarette machine.

Where I come from, Mametchis are really popular, but I don't feel very cool - I'm one of the shy people.

I leant back onto my pillow. I was going to work hard for my pay check the next day.

After a quick breakfast consisting of my favourite omelet and fresh grapefruit, I wandered off to meet my friend, Crash. Crash was a kutchipatchi who always wore T-shirts that said: 'I killed the Redeemers' and stuff like that. He also hid his bold head under a newspaper - hat when not at work. I had the feeling that he was a living bumper sticker, but he was also the best kutchipatchi on the planet. He was in addition the worst lazybones i've met in my life.

'Hello,' I greeted him when I knocked on the door.

'Hi, there, mate,' he said, stepping out, tripping in a wine bottle and falling on the grass.

I smirked. 'I can't help but think that you got a little one too much yesterday,' I said and helped him to his feet.

'One too much maybe,' he said, 'But I really think the bag of coconut shavings I had for breakfast did it.'

I smirked even broader. 'You should start work out class.'

He laughed roughly. 'Yeah, right. You shouldn't be so rude.'

'Rude?! I faintly remember you sent a scary doll to a furawatchi once.'

'That was not rude! She was trying to control me! I just... timeouted her a little!'

'Well, your Keeper yelled at you.'

Crash looked both proud and mischievous. 'What can I say? I'm a free tamagotchi!'

We parted at the school building. Crash was the coach at the school Tama Tennis team, and he was probably the best leader because he was so kind. 'Catcha later, Roman! Try to splurge me in front of your new waitress!'

'I'm trying not to tempt myself with it!'
