The Haunted House Part 1: I'm Dared To Go In The House

Rrring! Rrring! The phone rang, so my mother yelled at me, "Answer the phone, Michelle!" I darted down the stairs and picked up the phone. "Hello?" I asked. "Michelle, is this you? I'm Rhonda, the Shelltchi. Remember me? I saw you at school today in Mrs. Flower's class!" A voice said. I practically jumped when I realized who was speaking to me. I didn't say anything for a couple of seconds, hoping Rhonda would just hang up and forget about me, but she didn't. "Hello? Hello? Michelle? Is this the right number?" I thought about how I had treated her while we were at school...

"Class, there is a new student who will be joining us. Her name is Rhonda," Mrs. Flower explained. Rhonda waved hi to everyone and cheerfully grinned. 'This Rhonda person looks geeky,' I thought, but I did not say anything. Rhonda had glasses that had to be taped together at the nose to keep from falling apart, and she wore clothes with poor quality and patches. Later on that day at lunch, I was sitting with some of the other Tamagotchis when Rhonda walked over and asked if she could sit with me. "Sure...?" Replied a Ura Young Mametchi named Robert. "Yaay, let me just--ooooh!" Rhonda walked over and slipped on a banana peel I had threw on the floor. Her spaghetti went flying and landed all over her clothes, but she didn't mind. She grabbed her messy tray, stood up, and sat next to Robert. She chewed very loudly, and she chewed with her mouth open, so everybody walked and sat somewhere else. I did too, but before I left, I said, "You have some milk on your hair, Rhonda." I poured her milk on her hair, and Rhonda smiled, wiped her hair off with a napkin, and told me, "Thank you. You're so nice!" And the rest of the day only got worse. At recess, everybody was playing dodgeball. Rhonda walked over and said, "Can I play with you?" Robert didn't want to be nice anymore, so he said, "No, you can't. Why don't you go play on the baby swings, you baby!" Rhonda just smiled and said, "You're right. Baby swings are more protective when you're sitting down, so you're less likely to get hurt. Thank you!" And she pranced away. Finally, a Ura Young Memetchi called out, "Rhonda, wait! You can come play with us! Just... stay on Michelle's team." I frowned, but Rhonda was very happy. "Who else is on your team?" Rhonda asked me. "...No one," I icily replied, but Rhonda didn't mind. Rhonda had to dodge a lot of balls, let me tell you that. She got hit on the face a lot, but she just said, "You guys are good at this!" No matter how mean we tried to be with Rhonda, she didn't see it that way.

I finally came back to my senses when I heard Rhonda saying, "Hello? Hello? Hello?" over and over again. "Rhonda, uh, hi. Can I... er... not call you back later?" I asked, trying to be a little bit nice to her. "Hi Michelle! It's Rhonda! Thank you for being so kind to me today! I'm trying to make friends, because everyone teased me at my old school, so I transferred. I want you to come to my house, Michelle!" Rhonda's story wasn't a pleasant one, so I decided to just try to be nice to her, since no one was around. "Err... okay? Where do you live?" I asked, and Rhonda blurted out, "928 Noggin Place!! I'll come pick you up right now. LET'S GO, MOM! MICHELLE SAYS WE CAN PICK HER UP! Sorry, Michelle. Where do you live?" "Rhonda, let me check with my--" I started to say. "I said, where do you live?" Rhonda asked again, in a growlish tone. "610 Hart Moggs." I said, so Rhonda hung up. A couple minutes later, Rhonda was at my house. My mom waved bye, I told Rhonda hi, and Rhonda was as happy as can be. In the back seat of the car, Rhonda asked her mom if she could take us to the park. Rhonda's mom nodded yes, so to the park we went. When we got to the park, Rhonda's mom parked across the street and waited for us there. Rhonda and I got out of the car and got on the swings. One moment, Rhonda's mom was fixing her makeup, the second moment, her mom was asleep. When Rhonda noticed her mom was asleep, she got off the swing and pointed to an old, crickety house across the street. "Wanna go?" She asked. "Uh, no, Rhonda!" I replied, thinking about how scary the house must be. Rhonda's eyes glowed red, and she said, "Fine, punk. Wanna play Truth Or Dare?" I thought that sounded better, so I nodded. "Truth or dare?" Rhonda asked. "Hmm... dare!" I excitedly said, happy about Rhonda changing the subject. "Excellent..." Rhonda smiled in an evil way. "Uhh, what are you smiling about?" I asked, curious. Rhonda just said, "I dare you to go in that haunted house!" My smile quickly faded, and I told Rhonda no. "You chose dare. So get in the house!" She yelled. "Fine, but if you go with me." I said, thinking Rhonda would chicken out and say no. I was wrong. She did that evil smile again and said, "Deal. But there's a second part of the dare." I just stared at her. "We have to spend the night in the haunted house."
