2 YEARS LATER
I spent the next two years practicing at the park. I threw the ball into the air, and then hit it with my bat. It went flying toward the end of the park. I ran the bases. I pitched balls at the fence. I threw balls far and caught them. All seemed to be going well for me.
Then, that's when it happened.
One day, I was practicing as usual. Little did I know- A Major League Scout was walking by the park talking in a cell.
That's when the scout stopped talking, and looked over at me- A 17 year old Street Kid practicing baseball. He was amazed. He ran up to the stands, and started to watch me.
I deicided to go on with my practice.
4 hours later, as I stalked out, a voice yelled at me "Hey Kid!" The Man was running toward me. "That was great practice. But it's School hours. Why are you here during school time all alone?"
I didn't understand.
Then, the man shifted to my very raggy clothing I wore. "Woah, kid. I guess your a Street Orphan, Huh?"
I nodded to whatever he was saying.
The man said to me "Follow me." and so I followed him.
For the next 5 hours, he taught me a bunch of stuff about school and stuff.Math-everything. I got it all down.
Then, the man said "I guess I'll be sending you to college, eh? If you do well for the Next 3 years, then I'll let you sign this Minor League contract, OK?"
I nodded my head.
Then, the scout asked me "What's your name?"
I knew a name was a title of something. I tried to remember. Hard... Hard... Then, that's when something popped into my head. "Coke." I said.
"Well, Bye." The scout said.
I left after waving him a bye.
Then, I headed to my alley.
I was thinking about how tough college would be.
It started tommorow, explained the Scout.
He knew where it was- It was called Powerful University- and was a very big building.
He was a little restless that night- but slept.
The next day, he got prepared- Luckily, the scout had gaven him a new jersey to wear, and some new clothes. And 200 dollars in cash.
He ate some apples, and then headed off to that big brick building with his cardboard box and all his belongings.
He finally made it to the enterance. Then,
BUMP.
He had bumped into another student.
"Oww." said the guy who he had bumped into, rubbing his head.
"Sorry. Are you OK?" I asked.
"Yes." said the boy.
He was about my age, I could tell.
I asked him his name. He told me "Jet."
I told him mine, and we talked for a while.
Then, the announcements and rules and stuff came for new students like me.
Jet was also a first year like me. I smiled at him. And when I got my dorm key, I looked at Jet's key number. 995. That was also my key number. I shared a dorm with him.
So I smiled and told him that, and we walked together with our belongings to the dorm.
And we arrived.
NEXT PART SOON.
