realizing regret
So, my mom handed me a few catalogs--Alloy, Delias, etc. I really liked Delias, and Alloy had some kind of cute vintage-y stuff. I checked out their website, browsed around, and found this section called "Oh no She Didn't!"

Well, it's disgusting. They take pictures of people off the street, post them online, and rant about their outfits--some are actually photomanipulated.

Truthfully I find it absolutely disgusting. The people they take pictures of aren't even aware of this. And they have the stupidest idea of what Goth is--like, EVER.

But that isn't what this is about.

Have you seen this? What's your take?

Some of these women might be single moms with a kid or two with a low paying job, yet they get made fun of it by not having "cute tops"! Poor girls...

i hope someone will get so peed off they'll sue them

I saw that.

That really is messed up. You don't just random take pictures of people on the street! I hate that...>.<

Ohmigod that's so unfair! Lol, maybe someone should sneak up to them in the morning when they wake up so they look all, "Ehhh..." and take a picture of them and post it on the internet!

Mwahahahahaha!

But that's really messed up. Someone should do something about this!

I seen it.

I just find it horrid to see people making fun of people because of the way they dress.

It's a free country, you can dress anyway you want too.

That's just awful. They shouldn't do that. They wouldn't like it if people were taking pictures of them and didn't even know it, and the person who took the picture puts it in a magazine and criticizes what they're wearing.

Do they even blur the people's faces, or something? Some people wouldn't like to have their faces in a magazine...

I think we've just located a group of people that have nothing better to do with their time - I mean, honestly. They are probably slobs that think they know the world, typing up nasty things about what people wear - about their individual style - just because they don't have lives of there own.

That is sickening.

Do you have proof that the people in the photos didn't give their consent to be in the pictures? Maybe the whole point is to look like it was spur-of-the-moment photography with random people off the street, but it's probably staged. I'd almost guarantee that it was staged to seem that way.

dELiA*s is my favorite store of all time. 90% of my wardrobe is from there. :)

Maybe it's just a joke or something? They could have hired people, or maybe friends, to wear something and take pictures of them and make the website out of boredom. I don't know^^;

They usually get the scenes from the back. They do blurr the faces, but still.

If they didn't ask the people for permission to use there photos then wouldn't it be illegal?

Well anyways,

even if they did give them permission I still find it to be extrememly rude. People should be able to wear what they want to wear without being criticized. >.>;;

Well, not really. If you take a picture of someone's butt on accident when you're taking a skyline...that's the same thing. o_o

You know I'm surprised noone's gotten them in trouble for putting their picture in the magazine without permission as Lynn Chan and various others. In most cases in newspapers and other forms of readable media out there, the people writing articles and using other people's pictures have to ask permission to use their photos in their thing. I can only wonder if anyone put a lawsuit up against this "Alloy".

But yes it could all just be all hired help for this Alloy. Gotta prove the facts first before concluding anything.
