TF screen weirdness

A few days ago I got myself a Tamagotchi Friends (was feeling nostalgic), it was working fine until yesterday afternoon.

Horizontal bars keep going up and down the screen really really fast, and the icons blink all at the same time. If i try doing something on it, the screen flickers while pressing buttons and as soon as i stop pressing anything the horizontal bars come back.

I've not seen anyone mention this happening to theirs? So not sure what to do to fix it, or should i just return it?

I've tried the normal 'fixes';

Taking the batteries out and 'leaving' it to 'cool' does nothing.

New batteries (tried 3 different types) made no difference.

Resetting it makes it beep, then the horizontal bars return.

Rom test it goes through okish, with the screen flickering and then returns to the horizontal bars as soon as the choosing egg screen comes up.

Taking it apart and 'cleaning' doesnt appear to have done anything.

Have I caused this in some way or have i just got a dodgy tamagotchi? All suggestions welcome.

Sounds like you go a broken TF. You might be able to return it (as long as you didn't damage it any further when you opened it) and buy a new one. But when you cleaned it did you also try tightening the screws near the screen? Sometimes that helps.

I'm going to return it and get a new one. I was very careful when i opened it up, so they probably wont even realise i did!

I've since dug out 4 of my old tamagotchis and put new batteries in one of them, so its happily beeping away next to me. I think its a V5.

My first TF did this and had issues with the battery not connecting properly, i took it back and got a new one and it worked fine
