Tamagotchi Shutting Off

This morning I woke up to my V4 with a blank screen, I tried to press a button and it made a long noise so I had to take that battery, I put it in and it works for a few seconds then it shuts off again. It's in very good condition (much better than the v3 I'm running aswell) what's happening? P.S I've also tried changing the battery and that didn't work.

It must be getting glitchy for some reason. Did you try pressing the reset button after putting in a battery?

Yes, I did. Same result.

You could open it and try cleaning out the inside or maybe changing the brand of battery you are using. If you have never opened a tama before here are some things to remember:

Be gentle

Avoid ripping out the sound wires, they are attached to the back of the tama and the circuit board

Don't lose any screws

I would try the battery thing first though because I find opening you tama to be like a last resort kind of thing.

I'll try a different bran of battery, and if that doesn't work, I'll accept the fate.

Definitely change the brand of battery, and check to make sure any moisture hasn't gotten inside the unit (setting it in a small bag of rice is a good way to quickly dry anything electronic out). Sunlight can cause Tamagotchis to go haywire, too, but I'm not 100% sure if the damage can be permanent or not.

I did bring them in while it was raining! That maybe why, thank you.

Hmm weird, I usually have great luck with Duracell.

I did, I think it's due to water damage -- I brought them in while it was raining and considering its size, a single raindrop in itself is likely to do damage.

If it is water it may be because it's wet on the inside. Try putting it into a bag of rice and waiting a day or so.

If you're already doing this, then well done. Either way, I hope you can restore it back to its original function.
