Tamagotchi Meets/On - How long does the family photo stay for?

my problem is that due to the family photo in the way i couldn’t see my tama until after turning into a penguin (evolving) so i got confused and thought it was a glitch. can the family photo stay for shorter or just appear after?

The family photo is taken after every evolution, you just missed the first part of him evolving
