I think that tamatown is fine as it is, tamagotchis are meant to have their own little world! And it's more entertaining for younger children.

You can use the travel tickets to visit countries of our world, as sk8er said, and pick up souvenirs.

I think what's REALLY cool is that they are coming out with new areas in tamatown that can me accessed by the bus station. It's in the "coming soon" stage now, but it should be AWESOME when it does come.
