Tama parents and babies

My tamagotchi had a baby, and it has stuck around on the screen for over twenty four hours. Specifically, it's been about a day and a half. Is there some glitch happening here, or does the length of time that a tama stays with its baby vary? I thought it was supposed to be one day.

i guess the parent stays on until it feels comfortable leaving its baby with you
