There was a knock on the door of room fifty-seven, Laura, Koki and Kiko's classroom. Their teacher, Miss Angel, a 
opened the door. A was standing there. "Hi! I'm Jess! I'm a student in this class! Like sorry I'm late!" she said. The teacher gave her the desk behind Laura. The two of them slowly became friends.
A year later, a school assembly was called. By then, Laura had gotten to be the smartest and most popular girl in their class. Mr DeSilva, the principal, spoke into the microphone. "I have called this assembly because those of you who have been participating in the Preparation for Rancher class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10
AM to 12:00 PM must do your first project of the year!"
Laura listened carefully. She was in the Preparation for Rancher class. It was a course for the smarter kids who wanted to get into Rancher Junior High. The Kiwitchi Ranch Elementary school was grades 4-6. To attend junior high, you would have to go to a junior high school.
"Laura of Mr Pilowski's class, Kiko and Koki of Mr Pilowski's class, Janet of Mrs Simmin's class, Bobby Jean of Madame Kessett's class, Ellen Jean of Madame Kesset's class and Jess of Miss Larcroft's class will be taking a trip. Each of them will go into either a V1, V2 or V3 egg for 3 months. Or at least until the owner of the egg believes that they are dead. Then they will return here and write a report about it!"
Laura gasped. "A trip?" Kiko shouted. "No! I can't be away from Koki!" They started to run around the gym panicking. Laura just sat in her seat, frozen. Her jaw was wide open. Janet starting sobbing. "I don't wanna go away from my mom!" Jess started panicking. "A trip? But I need to pack right away then! I need my manicure set, my blowdryer, my-"
Mr DeSilva interupted her. "You have no intention to bring anything. You will be transported into an egg, hatched and begin a new life. Hopefully, you will be matched up with somebody and come back here to Kiwitchi Ranch."
Laura closed her jaw and grinned. She closed her eyes. 'I can't wait! This is gonna be so much fun!'
