There should be information about that in the instruction leaflet that was provided with it. 
It's all common sense, though - things like not getting it wet, not leaving it in direct sunlight, and not mixing battery types (or old and new batteries) so you don't end up with a short-circuit and/or leakage, and so on.
Additionally, if you're concerned about scratches to the case, you could look on Etsy or similar for a custom-made case, too - or you could make one yourself if you're so inclined.

Some hard sided eye glasses cases work well. I also like small clear zipper makeup pouches. You can search on Amazon for Pix or On hard cases; they will work for many different tamas. Don’t leave it in direct sun or in a hot car.
