P's: menu borders

Are any unlockable without pierces? When you unlock backgrounds with pierces, do they stay options, or would you have to keep the pierce inserted?

Hi, the borders & backgrounds are unique to the pierces. So once you download a new pierce, the borders & backgrounds from the previous pierce would be replaced by new ones from the new pierce that you just downloaded onto your Tama P's.

There's 3 unlockable Icon backgrounds in the P's not related to pierces. They unlock when you raise a certain number of inbuilt characters to Tamatomo level:
