I have had my braces for 2 years now, and tonight I had a problem with them. I just discovered that part of my wire broke off, and I think I swallowed it. What should I do? I'm afraid the wire will somehow damage my internal organs. Any advice?

I'd see a dentist as soon as possible.

I don't know what damage it could do neither do you... So maybe see the dentist and see what they say about it. I hope you'll be OK

Go to your orthodontist and have them fix it? I'm sure you won't have any problems with swallowing the wire, but if you're really worried, you could talk to your orthodontist about it while you're there.

You should go get them replaced (the wire) and I highly doubt that the wire would hurt you internally as they wouldn't be allowed to use them from risk of swollowing :) .

First how big was the piece of wire? Go see your orthodontist right away (MOSTLY LIKELY THEY WON'T OPEN UNTIL MONDAY) Don't worry you 'll be fine I mean I have swallowed part of my retainer and it was kind of big. It just disinagradts in your stomch.

Hope you can get to a deintest soon,

Yes, baybee-x is right-if the wire is dangerous, they wouldn't have been allowed use it, would they?

* gasp * Are you ok? I think you should tell your parents or a dentist or a doctor to make sure the wire is not infecting you in anyway ;)
