The night was restless, taking care of Miley. I swear she must have known her mom and brother were gone because no matter what I did, she wouldn't stop crying. Kimmy helped me a little bit by giving her medicine, but Miley refused to take it. I tried to rock her to sleep, feed her a bottle, burp her, just about everything a parent is supposed to do! I think...
"Miley, it's ok, daddys here.." I said in a calming voice, but still, tears were rolling down her face. Kimmy looked tired as well, she told me it was 2:00 am. Finnaly after telling her a story, her eyes started shutting as I gave a smile. She was in bed, and Kimmy and I could go to sleep.
Our rest didn't last long, Miley woke up at 7:00 am, as she beeped for attention and food. I lazily woke up as Kimmy stayed asleep. Miley was giggly as she made funny faces at me. I laughed a bit, but I was still only half awake.
"Daddy!" yelled Miley. I ignored her, but a few seconds later it hit me: Miley said her first word! I ran up to her and picked her up in my arms. "What did you say?" I asked her again excitedly. "Daddy!" she repeted and I gave her a big hug.
For the rest of that morning, I spent it with Miley, teaching her new things, playing with her, just like my mom used to do. Before I had to leave, I wanted to give her the best child hood, so she would always remember me as 'daddy'. That morning she started learning new words, walking and getting into LOTS of trouble. She was exploring just about everything! Young minds are always curious!
I hardley seen Kimmy that day, and I think today was the day she trusted me alone. I felt pretty happy, today was just a good day.
"Daddy, can I have some apple juice?" she asked in her little baby voice. "Sure!" I said, and in her bottle I poured her some juice. She stumbled over to me and sat beside me. "i love you daddy." she said as she sucked on her juice. "Love ya too.." I said, and we both fell asleep.
Without knowing how late it was, I woke up with a startle, realizing it was 11: 55 pm. Oh no! Almost time for me to leave I think! I just couldn't leave! That's just impossible, I can't leave my dear Miley!
The clock was now 11:57, as I went to her crib, looking down at her. She had my eyes and nose, and her whole face looked like mine. I never noticed this before, but I guess I never did take the time to. The time was now 11:58, I had better tell her now. I took a deep breath and lightly shook her body awake. "Miley, Miley, wake up..." I quietly said. She growned a bit as her eyes opened and stared right into mine. "What's wrong daddy?" she asked me. "I have to... I have to go now..." I said. "Where? Can I come?" she curiously asked. "No Miley, you can't, I have to go alone... I won't be coming back..." I said, and a tear rolled down my cheek.
"But daddy, I want you to stay!" she cried as she grabbed my arm. "Sorry Miley, I can't. You can live through this without me, I did it without my mom, and you can do it without me. Even though you can't see me, I'm going to be with you..." I explained. "Please daddy..." she said wiping tears from her face. "Bye Miley, I love you...." I said, and then I flew off, right into tama heaven.
The place was shining an white, with loads of other tamas, but this, I will save for another story.
Through my whole life time, I had learned a valuble lesson: You are never alone. Even if it's just 1, 2, maybe 3 tamas looking after you, there is always going to be at least one. For generations to come, the children will be told this, and their children will be told this, and so on. This way, no one will be alone, scared or forgotten, they be the exact oppisite.
I knew if I could do it, so could Miley... This time she was on her own, but this time with guidance and help.
