Okay I have like v1 and v2 or so,and I have to keep pokeing the battery to make the pixels show - I havn't played them and let them be dead in over two ears.Are the machines themseles dead?

 
yes, it sounds like... unless its a battery problem. Buy a new battery and try putting it in... if nothing changes, you need to get new tamas, and save the extra battery for when you need it. :(

 
It's probably just dead batteries, but it could be something wrong with the tama itself, but I highly doubt that. Try changing the batteries and see if that fixes the problem.

By the way, in case you don't know, it takes a CR-2032 [watch] battery.
