ALRIGHT so I've never made any kind of log and this is the first Tamagotchi-like thing I've had since PROBABLY about 1998. I don't know if anyone remembers those alien pets that were popular in kitsch stores in America, but I got one of those and it was an endless love affair. So now that I'm like 31 I decided I need to go through an existential crisis and relive my childhood by getting a Tamagotchi. I got a P's, which was fun to experiment with and gave me a basic working knowledge of how the thing is set up, and then I got a Spacey M!x.

I feel the need to stress that I really have no idea who any of the characters are, where the locations go, or any of that because I've never actually played with a Tamagotchi- only the cheap knock offs. I'm using basic menu walkthroughs to make sure I don't delete anything or do irreparable damage, but that's about it. Just assume most of this stuff is happening after a bunch of fumbling around. I also looked through the M!x base character chart. After getting a baby boy, I've decided I'm going to aim for Shimaguruchi as my first character because LOOK at his cute little tail! I think that means I have to be MEAN though...

Here we go!

Here's my little nugget. The first thing he did right out of the egg was cry... like a baby. I rattled at him about 20x and he seemed happy with that- this was after aimlessly fishing through the menu and then the treasure chest icon hoping that it had toys in it. He ate like every 15 seconds, too, and pooped constantly. Baby stage was brutal- this is why I'm 30 with no children.

An hour later, he turned into a satsuma. I managed to send him to the park where he met a pink-headed bunny who, I'm assuming, told him all about her plans to become a high-level Google Executive and indoctrinate us all into a world of Artificial Intelligence. Then we did some shopping and I got him crayons and a cute pinwheel. I also found GAMES but I didn't take pics because I was frantically figuring out how to play them. I like the rainbow game the best!

Then we went to town because I don't believe in wasting daylight hours. It apparently asked me if I wanted to bring a toy- so I picked the crayons. Then this orange lightbulb scared the tar out of my poor satsuma while he was just peacefully coloring in what looks like a park of some kind. Sort of rude if you ask me. When we got home I had him do chores to instill a sense of responsibility and because I wanted to see what that menu option did. After that I figured out that the middle button sends you outside, and my lazy satsuma slept while birds continuously rolled into his head. Tbh does that do anything if you wait long enough?

So there we go. So far, I'm having a lot of fun and the language hasn't presented too much of a barrier! I'll post more when I find other cool stuff.

Day 2~!

Not much exciting happened after yesterday. I hung out with my lil' satsuma and played games a bunch of times. Also I found out you can take him to dinner and he ate sundaes with the orange light bulb. I guess they are friends now?? Shortly after that he evolved into this little blue guy who seems to only be able to stand on one leg.

Next comes the absolute hardest part- I am SUCH a bleeding heart. In order to get Shimagurutchi, I had to get at LEAST 7 missed cares according to the chart. I don't really know how the care misses work 100% so.... I turned the sound off on my poor little Tama and left him on my desk. Checking on him was a bad idea.

I'M A MONSTER!!!

Eventually though all my hard work and neglect paid off and I GOT HIM!! Shimmy's first few moments of life were totally miserable. Look at that poor little bean. Right when I was starting to cheer him up, some jerks started throwing snowballs through the windows and hitting him in the head. EXTREMELY RUDE. Look how upset he is. I doubt he will ever forgive them. Or me. Probably mostly me.

I had a bunch of toys that I'd bought so I gave him a few to play with to cheer him up. Then when I gave him the crayons... WOW. HE WAS SO HAPPY! He drew all over his house! I thought he was supposed to be an adult. Then the jerks with the snowballs came back and when I sent Shimmy out to beat them up, he ended up meeting a fanciful mouse and unwisely followed him down a hole. Luckily, I had read that this probably unlocks a new town instead of him being shanghaied for his organs, so I went to the bus menu and there it was!!

I've seen this duck-billed dude all over the place and I don't know his name so I'm going to call him Squashy. Squashy told Shimmy about his recent inheritance of his ex-wife's dog and how frustrating that was. Then we hit the shops and I bought a bush because I didn't have enough money for the stump. After that, we went to... a sandbox? It seemed like a spa type thing, but then money started springing from the ground and Shimmy won 1K! The last thing we did was meet a deer/bush hybrid who is honestly the cutest thing I have EVER seen. Shimmy serenaded him (her?) with his bush smoother than Frank Sinantra.

I think that's it for this update- it was a pretty long one. I heard you can unlock a flower town, so I definitely want to do that. Also I need to start thinking about Shimmy's future and how to get him dates.

I'm back! This weekend was a little crazy with a big LAN party, but that meant I got to spend some good quality time with Shimmy. :'> This is going to be a two-parter post so I don't max-out the image restriction like I nearly did last time >_>

I honestly love finding the things that this little guy likes. Here he is on a date with K-Pop Sensation Princess Sparkle and I'm assuming they are drinking apple-tinis there since they're green. When I first had him drink it, he exploded with hearts everywhere and sang a little song, but unfortunately I missed taking a pic. IT WAS SO CUTE. That heart there is for the apple-tini though not K-Pop Sensation Princess Sparkle. I also intentionally lost the paint game so you guys could see how he holds the paintbrush. IT'S WITH HIS TAIL. HE HOLDS THE PAINTBRUSH WITH HIS TAIL OMG. <3 Also I caught a pic of those jerks that keep hitting poor Shimmy in the face with snowballs. Who throws snowballs inside?

I used the internet to decipher how to open up more towns and decided that the Flower town and Berry town would be the easiest next choices. The flower background is cute, but I am looking forward to getting the rainbow one because I want all the colors. When we got to Flowerville I went and bought stuff FIRST so that I could play with the items with the new townsfolk. I met a butterfly girl and Shimmy poured water on her head- but at the last minute it turned into a RAINBOW and they rode it around like in a fanciful fairy story (didn't get pics of the actual rainbow ride I was too entranced.) Madame Butterfly really loved that. Smooth Shimmy, smooth.

Finally, I went and checked out Flowerville's tourist destination. After nearly being crushed alive, Shimmy played the "Do they love me" game after I unknowingly selected the deer-shrub guy from Forest Town. Luckily, Shimmy seemed happy with the flower's verdict so they're probably gonna be soulmates or something.

On now to Berry Land. I'll be honest, of all the places this one is my most favorite. I'm a sweets person in the first place, but the design of this place is just so friendly and colorful!

Like with Flowerville, the first thing I did was buy what I could at the store so I could play with it with the local residents. First up was a pink Flan thing. When I went to the square, I ran into Queen Sweets. She and Shimmy were super excited to jump on the Flan- he's going to have to take a bath later- and he went so high he nearly flew off into space. Luckily, he landed on the Flan and got covered in whipped cream instead, which his new lady friend seemed to really like. Honestly, he's just so smooth with the girls.

The tourist destination was where they coat you in frosting and sprinkles in an attempt to pass you off as a local. Then the actual locals get to judge you. You guys, I want to be able to marry Shimmy off to that strawberry SO bad- but it looks like she's not available. Queen Sweets was there too and she's licking her chops at how attractive Shimmy is covered in sugar. You dog!

Finally, I'm dedicating my last few images to the fact that I don't hold out hope for poor Shimmy's overall life expectancy. When he tried to play Badminton, he dropped the racket and skidded on his face. THEN I thought- ok maybe he's more a skateboard kind of guy! Nope. Cartwheeled into the air and landed right on his head. Alright- maybe he's more just a sit back and relax sort of dude. NOPE. He almost immediately started to drown in the hot tub tree stump. You guys, I'm really worried.

Short little update today of unlocking the cloud town!

Apparently today is special somehow? I pushed a bunch of different buttons but Shimmy seems happy just to gaze hypnotically at the shrine that popped up out of nowhere. Plus I got the rainbow background yay!

Today was the first clear day I've seen since it's winter where I live, so I sent Shimmy outside to plant his seeds. The first time he threw an actual fit because apparently he hates adorable plants. The second time, though, I did manage to get the beanstalk to grow that takes you to Cloudville! Rainbowtropolis? Skynet?

I went to the shoppe first and bought a cloud, and then went to the square where we ran into a fluttery ghost puppy. At first she and Shimmy played peacefully with the cloud, but then true to his luck he ended up accidentally terrorizing her with it and falling off. At least she was able to fly up and catch him. So far I think this is the cutest female character. Maybe there will be dates in Shimmy's future? WOOING??

I have to have 7 care misses also to get the girl I want (if I get a girl). I already feel guilty just thinking about it.

Here are a couple of cute pics of Shimmy doing Shimmy stuff. I love this lil bean- look at him chasing a butterfly!

Shortly after Shimmy was sort of kind of wooing Princess Ghost Dog, we ran into a sheep lady. She was SO CUTE and I found out she liked the juggling balls so Shimmy went about wooing his fair maiden. As you can see she's extremely entertained- after all of Shimmy's other blunders I had NO idea he could juggle this well.

He even juggled the universe for this little lady. THE UNIVERSE. If that isn't a metaphor for true love then I don't know what is, ok? Well shortly after this guess who popped the question? SHE DID! Both Shimmy and I were very impressed with her progressive attitude and I was so overwhelmed by the stupid amounts of cute that I only remembered to get a pic after they were already married. Don't ask me how they both fit in that convertible- they're happy and that's what counts. Of course you know first comes love, then comes marriage...

... Then comes an adorable green pea-child!

Shimmy was such an attentive father- borderline stalker-ish. I was so proud of him.

Eventually green-pea-child evolved into ladybug toddler with a poof hat. Alright, that's not a very good name- I need to come up with a better one for her when I get the chance. She's got a plucky go-getter attitude and even got money for growing up. All I got when I grew up was acne. Eventually Shimmy and Sheepy bade their elementary schooler goodbye and sent her off into the world like Ash Ketchum with much love and well-wishes. Here you see Sheepy sharing their deepest family secret about a cursed shrine and a guardian monster but that's irrelevant to this log.

And here she is! Shimmy's grand legacy officially in my care. :'> I'll keep updating along the way as things progress with her and post updates of her progress/when I unlock stuff! I still REALLY have to think of a name...

Small update today

I changed to the forest background, which I think now is my favorite, and my kid turned into a teenager! Luckily she's not the dark angsty kind that listens to scene music. I've started calling her Bitsy because she is very smol. Unfortunately she spent pretty much all of her teen years(hours?) in daycare because I had to work, but here she is running around being cute.

Then in the evening she evolved again. You guys I am so glad I picked this combo of characters. It is insane how adorable this kid is. I sent her off to visit her folks and Shimmy is so excited! He's telling her all about his vegetable garden I'm sure.

Bitsy is a spitfire so I gave her some bangin' earrings from Berry Town so she can express herself. Here she is doing a rock-bush performance for the acorn lady. This girl's a star. A STAR I TELL YOU.

Yeah, I actually ended up with nijifuwatchi instead of Momotchi, but she's very cute to! And I am really happy with her! And sorry to bother you about this but I really want to post pictures on my log but I can't figure out how. How do you post your pictures?

Sorry for the long disappearance! Photobucket was having some serious issues so I wasn't able to upload anything until today- super annoying!

I sent Bitsy to visit her parents after a couple of days and she asked to stay over! I had no idea you could do that and it worked because I was busy that day. Peeped in a couple of times for pics and Shimmy snuck up on her like a creeper while she was sleeping. I still love him the best- mildly bummed that I didn't just keep him as my Tama on this one forever. >_>

Bitsy, however, is a spitfire. Here she is going all Pinball Wizard ( did I just date myself) to impress the monkey dude. She was too cool for him though.

She also nearly drowned a lot with the deer bush. I spent a lot of time in the forest town because it's definitely my favorite town and the deer bush is super friendly. Eventually, Bitsy spent enough time with him that his little entry in her diary was pink- you go get him, girl.

So I'm still playing with my Spacey Mix, but unfortunately I forgot it at home one day and my Tama died. ;( I was about four generations in, I think. Alas! Most of the stuff you go through after the first two gens is exactly the same. If I get a new/fancy Tama I will log it again though! I just got the Sanrio Mix, so that might be a fun one.
