Need to gain weight

I'm 15 and I weigh about 95 LB. And no I am NOT NOT NOT NOT anorexic OR bulemix >=( I hate people calling me that! I eat like the biggest pig yo've ever seen! I have a really high metabolizm and I was to get it lower.

Can anyone help me? AND BE SERIOUS! :D

 
Well honestly whether or not you are under weight also depends on your height an bone density, very little on age.

If you are interested in gaining weight, DO NOT stop your active lifestyle. You will kick yourself in the pants when you are older if you do so.

Another question, have you started puberty yet? If so, how long have you been pubescent?

Well I know not to stop my active lifestyle. I hate sitting around doing nothing all day I like to walk or run or do something.

And yeah I have started puberty but I haven't started my period yet. I have been

'in puberty' since I was about 11.

Oh and I don't know if it matters but I'm almost 5'8" and I am 15 years old, this coming year I'm gonna be a sophmore.

Okay, so yes, you are fairly underweight. The fact that you haven't gotten your period strongly suggests to me that you have not yet started to manufacture estrogen which means your body simply isn't ready to hang on to fat yet. It probably also means that by the time you are 18 you will have obtained a curvier figure.

If you are still interested in gaining weight, I believe it would be beneficial for you to start a high protein diet. Do you eat alot of meat?

Yes I eat ALOT of meat. Mainly chicken though.

Ah, okay. Try eating alot of nuts, eggs, and more red meats, like lamb and beef. Those foods are high in fat and protein which are good for a strong yet curvier body.

The results of your BMR tell me that you burn about 2,000 calories a day regaurdless of how active you are. That means to gain weight you should aim to consume something like 3,000 calories a day.

 
try not to worry about it to much i have exactly the same problem as you i went to see my doctor but they just told me to eat more but it didnt work but recently i have started to put on a little bit of weight so mabey the same will happen to you

 
:) Don't worry, I have a high metabolism too. Like RG said, make sure you're eating enough nuts and red meats. Don't overfeed yourself though, just eat until you're full and eat balanced meals.

You may want to talk to your doctor as well, I'm sure they can give you some good tips. :)

I have gained weight. 15 LB since March.

 
Make sure you eat the foods mentioned above, and try to get in some foods that you feel are "heavy."
Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to your parents about this. They would know some stuff of how to handle it.
My mom was the same way when she was little. She was real skinny. My brother is skinny too. Hes 27 and he weights 120 LB which is about the weight of a few of my sfriends.

 
I eat like a Pig and dont gain xP. I think they have Shakes that make you GAIN weight so maybe you could try some of those. Good luck ;]

 
Don't try to gain weight. If you eat a normal diet, you will eventually get a fuller figure. I understand it can be annoying to be called anorexic or bulimic, but its not your fault you are small.

Yes, if you are 5''8 and 95 pounds, your BMI is 14.4, and that is very underweight. But like I said before, once you go through puberty you will obtain a curvier figure, as girls gain up to 50 pounds during this time. It is possible you are just going through late puberty.

For now, eat lots of protein and (healthy) fat, sticking to the food guide!

I have a very fast metabolism too. :wacko: I was constantly being called anorexic.

For a while I was 13 years old and only 75 pounds. But I've put on a lot of weight this past year and now I'm between 95-100, depending.

My doctor told me to eat protein bars. He knows that I have an active lifestyle, and he recommended that after a sporting activity (like after my softball games), to have a protein bar. :eek:

I'm in the same situation. Try peanut butter, I herd it works.

Try to avoid the sweets just to gain wieght... it doesn't work well. It just makes me sick.

I also herd that drinking lots of sweet tea is good too. (like REAL sweet, not FAKE sweet)

You know, your body has to be AT LEAST 10% body fat before you can start your period. By the fact that you're underwieght, that suggests that you DO need to eat more.

(I know how you feel, tho. Sometimes it just makes me SICK to eat more. Especially when it comes to meat for some reason.)

In health this year we calculated our total body fat. I was about 5%. :)

That explains why I have yet to have my period.
