my tamagotchi id only shows a blank white screen with sound

i bought this id years ago on ebay without realizing it wasnt working, ive tried a few things to get it to work, there was some corrosion from batteries in it previously and i had to resolder a wire connecting to the battery terminal but i was just met with this, ive checked the board but i dont see any corrosion on it anywhere, also the ribbon cable and contacts for the screen seem to be intact, does anyone know what it could be?
