My Tamagotchi has got married but now doesn't work

Hi - can anyone help? My Tamagotchi has just got married and had a baby and now I can't do anything with it. I can't leave the room apart from feeding and toileting. Any solutions or help much appreciated.

If it's a Tamagotchi Friends, the parents will leave after about an hour so that you can start looking after the baby.
