My IR sensor won't work

[SIZE=8pt]Everytime I try to connect with someone it doesn't work. It says stand by then it just quits. When I first got it I accidently chose the connection icon and it said fail, but now it won't even say that. Is it normal? Someone help me![/SIZE]

has it been in the cold along time or the hot along time

Did you press the middle button twice? (Stand by...Connect) If you did, then are you in direct sunlight? That harms the IR sensor. Make sure you're not trying to connect through a wall or anything...that doesn't work.

It doesn't say connect or fail it just says stand by, then it stops
