It was settled. Mum was crying. I could just see the tears roll down her cheeks. I felt I owed her an apology. Well, I did owe her an apology and now was the time to say it. 'Mum, I'm s...' I couldn't finish my sentence as she interrupted me. 'Don't talk to me!' she stamped her foot. It accidentaly landed on the accelerator and we almost went crashing into a building. I could see Mum was unhappy, she was depressed. I wanted to find a way to make it up to her, but I didn't think I could. The car screeched to a halt. I looked out the freshly-washed windows only to see a toilet block, the size of a small garden. I wanted to ask Mum where we were, where we were meant to go and try and tell her how I could help her get there before it was too late but didn't have the courage. I really insulted her. Tears weren't the only thing rolling down Mum's cheeks now, there were eyelashes. It was easy to tell she had been crying hard for some eyelashes to come off. I didn't really know what to do. Before I could say or do anything, Mum climbed back in the car, almost tripping over her black seatbelt as she did. From the car she called to me, 'I was going to take you to Legoland! I had a map and everything. But since you were so mean, I'm going to leave you here.' She slammed the door and zoomed off, almost breaking the back lights as she did.
I couldn't understand it. It was only a little insult, and it was the truth. Why did she get so angry? And I was going to die there. There'd be no food or water, and I only said one small thing. Death was a harsh punishment. A too harsh punishment. I decided to go for a walk, to hopefully find a cafe or something. I had a bit of money. I decided to head back to the road that my mum zoomed off onto. Maybe she'd stopped for me there. Or maybe there would be people there that could help. Policeman, kind citizens. I didn't know. I began to walk when something tapped me on the back. I'm calling it something not someone because whatever it was, had a very slimy finger. I turned around and I saw an alien.
