Japanese tamagotchi cell phone connection

does anyone know about the japenese tamagotchi cell phone connection i just bought one on the internet what cell phones do they connect to?

I have one, but I'm not sure if the cell phone connections work outside of Japan. I tried to connect to my cell and it didnt work.

wow.. bummer.. but cell phones from the US don't work if u go to japan or something and vice versa
