Is this fake?

Hey guys,

I'm pretty sure it's real, but this tama doesn't have the usual "tamagotchi" on the top of the toy, and it also has a different type of key chain (it doesn't have the usual hoop key chain). I've seen several of these on ebay, and I was wondering why they were different.

Hi! This is THE original US Tamagotchi, a P1/G1 (generation 1, not to be confused with the V1 connections, of course )...it was released in Japan in 1996 before it even came here in '97. The word "Tamagotchi" is not printed on it and the chain is a sort of ball and clasp-type chain instead of the usual hoop...this distinguishes itself from the P2/G2 (generation 2 original). There are other notable differences such as characters appearances (same amount, just different ones), the game that is played, the food, and such. They differ mainly in appearance, but you are right: the ones that you see like that on Ebay aren't fake.
