VERSION 4
Mail
The mail feature, which replaces the "light" function, is slightly different from its Entama counterpart. While the Entama recieved letters, newspapers (in the morning), and important notices, the V4 uses letters, important notices, and Fortune Stars.
The Stars, when read, predict your Tamagotchi's fortune in 3 catagories: Points, Love, and Skills. 1 heart is bad, 2 average, and 3 good. Any catagory with 3 stars improves; for example, if a Tamagotchi recieved 3 stars in Points, it would recieve more points after winning a game 6 skill points instead of five.
The V4's letters also differ from the Entama's. The Entama had actual letters, with words that the player scrolls through. The V4, in turn, has images that depict what is written on the letter itself.
The Important Notice letters are still the same between the V4 and the Entama. They both are recieved during important events in the Tamagotchi's life, such as graduating from school or getting a new job.
Skill Points
Another feature from the Entama, Skill Points, are used with the V4. Games and food items increase certain skills, such as Intelligence, Fashion, and Kindness. The skill points directly affect what jobs your Tamagotchi can recieve and what characters it can become.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten is the school children and early teenagers go to. Depending on how well the owner/Tama does in school will determine the job the Tama will get in adulthood.
Jobs
Not too different from the Entama's feature, the V4 also has the ability to recieve an education and, eventually, a job. However, many differences are present.
Tamagotchi characters now go to school or work when the owner decides. This is done by going to the "Connection" icon, selecting "Work" and pressing B when the "Away" sign appears.
The teaching game for teen Tamagotchis has been altered. When the three presents appear, the Skill icon goes into the far right box, and then the boxes flash to resemble two presents switching place, making it easier for owners to win the game.
The V4 also has a minigame available for each job. As there are 15 jobs, there are 15 minigames total.
Glitches
What makes the V4 infamous is its vast amount of glitches contained within. There have been reports of the Matchmaker on the first wave of V4s bringing child and teen characters, characters of the same gender as the owner's Tamagotchi, and black bars that freeze the Tamagotchi completely and force the owner to reset.
Other glitches include foods disappearing from the food menu, balls appearing as food, letters in names changing, and adult V4 characters being able to mate with teen characters on previous versions. Fortunately most glitches are eradicated in the second wave of designs.
