In work the other day I realized that nearly every student in the school had a Tamagotchi at lunch and/or recess. I remember having these when I was a kid and they first came out. I bought one and within a week I was bored with it. I put it down somewhere in the house and ended up losing it, never to see it again.
I went home and decided to research the new ones to find out why they were so popular. Everywhere I looked I discovered that they were out of stock. One toy store claimed that when they got stock in they sold out in under a half hour.
Now I was really determined to figure this out, but I refused to pay twice the price for one on eBay.
The other day I was passing the toy store and I saw the truck unloading in the back. So I went in and waited a few minutes on a line full of mothers who must have thought I was insane.
I bought one, but now came the problem. It had been so long since I had one that I forgot what to do. There was an instruction manual inside, but the writing in it was so small I got a headache just looking at it.
So, the following day I brought the Tamagotchi to work and made the students set it up for me.
At first I thought it was somewhat entertaining when I got bored, and the pause button helped for when I was work and asleep, but I was annoyed points as well. If I'm bored and play to many games it won't play anymore because it goes under weight!
Now that I have been taking care of it for a few days I find I am slowly growing more fond of it. I am now curious to see if I can take good enough care of it that it can survive all the way to its last form and through many generations.
Tamagotchi's have come a long way from when I was a child. The V3 is definately more entertaining than the original I had oh so many years ago.
