iD L Download Problems

I got a new IR adapter for my birthday today and I was trying to use it to download stuff onto my iD L however, it's not working. My tama appears to be trying to connect to my computer (the connect hearts turn red) but it can't seem to. Is it a problem with my new IR adapter (this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GED7SI/ref=s9_cartx_gw_d5_g147_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=0MX4VF91GX55JF3Z03KJ&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2091268722&pf_rd_i=desktop)? Or am I not doing it right? (I'm following this guide: https://www.tamatalk.com/IB/topic/182317-how-to-transfer-downloads-using-usb-to-irda-pictures/ ) The guide says, "Keep connecting until an app appears on your computer. It should say 'Send files to another computer' click on that app before it goes away," but that app doesn't appear.

Try downloading the necessary drivers then, connect press connect on your tama straight towards the ir blaster, try to locate a notification that says "A device is trying to connect"

I wasn't downloading the drivers because I assumed it would work without them. (I'm obviously not the best with computers...) Thanks so much! Now I am able to download a lot of new items and games. (Does anyone know how to play "Gotchi Halloween"?)
