I like that but at the same time I find what it says unfair. How many of you set out to be these things? Maybe you are a beauty queen cause you dont know how else to feel loved. Maybe you are a geek because you cant reach out to people to be social. Maybe you take meds because you REALLY are ill. Maybe you can't get by without them. Maybe girls feel the need to act like sluts because thats what our media tells us men will want. How many of you have lost a crush to the 'popular' girls? Maybe you bring a gun to school because you know if you dont someone else is going to end up shooting you.

If you want to live in a place without those things you're better off dead and in heaven. It wont ever happen here. I dont think it is because of our 'sinful nature' as someone has said, I think that is ignorant and unfair. We dont have a sinful nature, everything is like this for a reason and it isnt because some story about a woman eating some fruit. We made it like this, and how are we now supposed to change? Everything is so far gone. The best we can do is take care of ourselves and the ones we love. If we get caught up in what is wrong with the world, how will we ever make it right?

I think I got what you mean. You're bascicly saying it's people pick on others and do stupid things to make them look or feel better? Correct, but what I was pointing out was more general- we do this kind of stuff because we are humans. Cliques are the only cause this problem called our world. It much bigger than that.

You are right on that though. It's really sad how alot of girls have to live by other peoples' standards of beautiful. I'm not saying this without any experience with it either- I have constand bits of problems with self image too.

I don't much think that this is because of cliques, however, I have a story to share.

I hang out with my friends, you could say we are a "clique", but not really. When I was in fourth grade--only two years ago--a girl in fifth grade started a clique. My friends, my best friends got sucked in. They betrayed me, when this girl said "Shut Up", their response was "Shutting Up". They could only wear jeans or they would be kicked out. This girl was mean and vicious to me, all because of the clique. My Mom had to call the school, and they put a stop to it. Me and my friends talked it over, and realized we should have never even heard of the Clique in the first place, it was just a waste of our time.

Conclusion: Maybe these things are caused by cliques, but most aren't. Cliques can just be mean groups and bullies, but they won't cause you much harm.

I actually disagree with the whole "blame the social systems" attitude in general. I don't think that's the problem, and I don't think it's a possible ideal to have a situation without some kind of social system. And you know what, I'm tired of preaching. If I'm going to listen to preaching, it's going to be from the dude with the nobel peace prize, not someone on myspace.I'm also tired of hearing about cliques. Maybe it's because my school doesn't have any and I have no clique. It's one of those words that's been used too much is another one.

I like the last sentence, though, because it annoys me to no end when people say things like "I don't label people" and such as. That's not fixing the problem, that's flat out making the problem worse. And you know what? It's true, everyone does that. Denying it is just another way to stroke one's ego into thinking "Oh, I'm so speshul, the world could use another five of me"

Something else, it's not just human nature. A lot of the more complex animals have a dominant/submissive hierarchy (wolves, for one, as you know me.) It's been an instinct for a long time, and people just show it in their own way, like this. I don't use that as an excuse, however don't be thinking "all people are evil" in such a way like it's some sort of new thing.

You have the freedom of speech no matter what age. The only issue is nobody takes anyone seriously until they're 21+ and have a good waged, stable job and are responsible enough to take care of themselves.

Also, a lot of parents wont let their kids speak out of manner; so that throws off the whole, 'freedom of speech' thing.

So long as people can blame someone else for their problems, they will.

If you take someone's words seriously and in offense to the point where you're hurting yourself, that's your issue. Not the clique's. You cannot blame a whole group of people for something one person did.

Well you do have free speech no matter what your age- example, I personaly can protest abortion and share my beliefs like I already have. The school couldn't stop me, for one, because of that right. Now I have to do it respectfuly, of course, but if I want to speek about Bush or Kerry or whoever, I can do that also. Just because I'm not 18, doesn't mean I'm denied of that right.

What you say has a true meaning to it. I agree with you. People say that we live in free countries and that people are all equal but we're not. We're all tied back by non-written rules that say that girls have to be a certain way and guy have to act in a certain way. People are too judgemental for their own good when they arn't even perfect themselves.

I'd say I agree with Pyonnie and SK.

Sure, stereotypes and cliques are bad to some people. But that's purely opinion. Some people agree with stereotypes, some people disagree, and some people, frankly, just don't care. But there's one thing for sure;; We can't stop it all, no matter what we attempt. It's like trying to stop the ocean waves from breaking over the shore. You just can't do it. You can try, and you can succeed maybe 10% of the time, but the amount of it all is overpowering.

But either way, I'm really sick of hearing people whine about stereotypes and such. But again, there's no stopping that, either.
