How many generations can you have?

I was wondering how many generations the Tamagotchi v3 can hold up to. Anyone know?

I beleive it only shows up to 99 generations. But I think once you get up to 99, you can continue raising your Tamagotchi like normal, go through more generations etc. It just doesn't add anymore to the 99 you have. Though getting up to 99 generations would take a very long time!

on my V1 i got up to 56 then my friend took the battery out and then she pressed reset instead of download and did the same on my V2 (on purpose) when i got to 36! no way is she touching my V3! Well.. its only.. gen. 1.. but still!
