I have a tamagotchi ancestor and well, the batteries died a couple years ago. So, me and my boyfriend thought it would be fun it I replaced the batteries and see what would happen. Well, replaced the batteries and the egg appears but it won't hatch. I took it apart and put it back together and still, it won't hatch. Why is that? Can I fix it? If so, how??

What sort of tamagotchi? There are several tamgotchis that are considered "Ancestors;" Mori No, Umi No, Mothra, P1, P2, et cetera.

When you put the batteries in, remember you have to press "B" and set the clock, and THEN the life of your tam will start. You don't just put them in and wait.

Good luck.

Yes, Gejitchi is right! You have to set the time before anything will happen. Also remember that the ancestor tamas take 5 minutes to hatch, not 1 minute like the newer tamas.

Well, I think it's a P1. And it didn't even ask me to change the time or not. I know it takes 5 minutes but still nothing...

No, the older tamas won't "ask" you. Once you press the reset button on the back, press B on the front. That will take you to the clock screen. A changes the hour, B changes the minute, and C exits out. Holding A+C together will allow you to correct the time if you accidentally set it wrong

YAY! I got it to work if I press the buttons with a screw driver. For some reason the buttons won't go down far enough for it to read what I want it to do.
