Play lots of games w/ it, but forget to feed it once or twice. I know cause that was my very first adult on all three of my tamagotchis.

I know. you need a ichigotchi or a hinotamatchi then keep it really happy but keep it hungry about 3 empty hearts hopefully it will be hanatchi! it worked 4 me.
