Friends Screen brightness

I have 2 TFs- both purchased from eBay. One is American, one is European. The European one is so dark I can barely see the pet, but the American one is just fine. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I found this video by Ra where he does say the screen contrast on the European TF is quite poor. Apparently they knew because it even comes with instructions on how to toggle the contrast (at about 3:53 he shows it). Good luck!
