Chapter 1
Welcome to a world full of best friends and best enemies. The populars and the not so populars. You could say I fit in between. My name is Alana Love. Together with my three best friends, Kate, Sonia and Soria, I will get through three years in high school. I hope.
The bell rang for school and I was late. (Again!) My books fell out of my arms one by one behind me in a trail. Great! Just great! Now, I'm going to be later than ever.
As I ran into the building, I crashed into the last person I wanted to see. Mrs. Hart, the vice principal and my English teacher. She glared at me with her "you're in big trouble" glare. Her eyes were fierce. I gulped. Trouble was sneaking up on me slowly...
"Late yet again, Miss Love! Do you know what that means?" she grumbled. "Uh...another warning?" I asked, knowing that I was wrong... "Detention!" she screeched. DeTenTioN? Girls like me don't get detention!! Girls like Alicia and Serena get detention! I wouldn't survive!
For the whole day, I couldn't think of anything else but detention. I sat at an empty table at lunch, taking small nibbles of what looked like broccoli bits in some kind of gunk. I think it was supposed to be Broccoli Soup. Ugh!
"So, have you thought about what to do for our Art project?" I jumped up. It was just Sonia. "N..No! I've had something more important on my mind!" Sonia gasped. "What's more important than art?" I looked down at the sneakers I was wearing. "Detention.." I quietly muttered.
Sonie gasped again. "Detention? But...how...why...wh?" I brushed my hair out of my eyes. "Mrs. Hart's stupid rule. 3 lates and you get detention!" Sonia shook her head. "No! You can't get detention today! Today is the first meeting of the school council! We can't do anything without our school president!"
I
had
totally
forgotten!
Now, it was time to panic. What was I to do? I can't miss a student council meeting! School president doesn't get detention, I tell you! It just doesn't work like that! I decided that if I were to get out of detention, I would have to pay a little visit to my friend, the principal.
