Fail to connect two Tamagotchi P's

I am having trouble connecting my P's to one another and would appreciate some help with what I am doing wrong. I tried many different ways to get them to connect but wasn't able to. I am worried that one of my P's have a defect with the IR port. That would really suck since I bought (Note:splurge) another P's so I could have access to the connection games and have my tamas make visits.

They will work! I did the same thing then realised i was connecting them wrong.

Go to the connection icon, select p's on both tamagotchi p's. Then select top option (for playing) on both. On one tama select top option. On the other select bottom option. One will now have the waiting to connect screen. On the other you have options for how many tamas you are connecting to. Select the first one. Then select what game you want them to play. Wait for the screen (it'll show writing with some tama characters) face the p's infa red towards each other and press b button on the tama you chose the game on...should all work!

Menu options

1. Connect to p's

1. play games (within this option....)

[1. connect

2. choose game

(connect to....)

1 tama

2 tamas

3 tamas

Choose your game]

2.swap items

3.propose

4.visit (one tama goes and visits the other for 5 mins)

Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong I'm not very good at explaining things

*correction* (it'll just have the normal connecting screen after you choose which game you want your tamas to play, when you press the b button to connect the tamas you get the screen with little tama characters - which change depending on the pierce or game)
