Emergency Alert System Noise

Have you heard the Emergency Alet System noise? It's the scary sounding noise I sometimes hear on the radio and now it's on the TV too.

Since I leave the TV on if it goes off I wake up. One night it went off on a channel and I woke up instantly. That noise is SCARY!! It's probably the scarist noise I've ever heard.

Oh, that noise. I never heard it on the radio...

It doesn't show as a rainbow bar no more.. It's scary because it mostly comes on at night, and some guy is talking most of the time, it's like BEEEEPPP, this is a emergency test.

It looks like a rainbow on the screen, and goes 'BEEEEEEEEP' really loud.

That is the most annoying thing!

Especially if you're in the middle of watching a good show.

I've only heard the severe thunderstorm warning alarm. It like goes red and it has a loud 'BEEEEEEEEP!!!!' It's creepy because I never know when it's gonna come on. (I only see this at my aunt's house since my tv doesn't have that.)

It scares the crap out of me.here and in PA the screen goes green and it says don't be scared this is only a test!here if i get up early i watch TV guide to see what is on and i look at WTTE 8 and it says off air and i turn it there cause sometimes it have paid programming

so i changed to it and just incase sometimes i put it on mute so i don't wake anyone up cause alot of the time it goes rainbow and it is loud and i always have my tv blairing without the door shut sometimes sometimes i don't mute i and it blairs and it wakes my parents up and they come shut it off and i so...Then i'm like WTF when it's on thursday and and i got my tv on (in the morning)and it scares the crap out of me!And so does *removed* tornado drill thing when it went of at school we all started screaming.

That must be the most creepy sound that I have ever heard in my life.

You know I've heard less and less of these EMB's last few years. Even when a station goes off air, it's rarer to find the coloured bars on the screen. I don't have cable or satellite and the channels we do get usually just play infomercials in their place through the night up until 5-6am. Then the national anthem tends to play.

And I only heard the EMB on CBC radio here. When I visited my grandmother years ago she always was listening to that radio station.

*shudders* That thing has been a fear of mine ever since I was little. The scariest thing was, one time it went off on the radio to report a missing girl. I was in the car so I couldn't run and hide from that horrendous noise. *shudders again*

I can't stand that noise. Whenever it goes off I get the jitters.

Then, usually if it lists our side of the county, the city's alarm system goes off so I have to deal with both freaky noises.

Then I turn the TV off, lol.

Thats a pretty disturbing sound. Whenever I hear the noise, I get creeped out. I try and avoid the sound at all times, whenever I hear it, I scramble to turn off whatevers causing it.

Same here. I've always hated that particular one (because it always seems to come only on my favorite shows, during a funny part..). Fire drills and Tornado drills I would have to say suck more, though.

Can I share a story? Once, I was at the mall, the fire alarm went off. I was freaked. Well, it turned out that some crazy guy decided to pull the fire alarm just for fun. That was scary and annoying .

OMG. That this pratically scares the crap out of me! Once I was in my room, just chillin' and listin' to the radio when it came on. I cringed, but instead of the man after the sound saying, "Thank you for the cooperation with the drill,"yada yada yada, and Amber Alert came on for this little girl. I was so sad and depressed, it scared me out of my skin. I constantly checked the news for her. They found her like two days later outsite in the woods; dead. Apparantly, her dad beat her and left her outside in 0 degree weather to freeze. And she was only two.
