Although I do not own the DSi, I'm pretty sure you can't do that. But I suppose you might as well wait for real DSi owners to come along and tell you.

You can, but not within the system.

Like, you can do it with your iPod or something. but if you mean playing something other that game music within the system, then no. Sorry.
