dropped a Tamagotchi

My friend owns a Tamagotchi and she dropped it on the floor. When she picked it back up she told me that the outer screen had popped out a bit and now she can't push the left button on the Tamagotchi. We tried pushing the outer screen back in but it had little nubs that held it outside the Tamagotchi. The middle and right buttons still work, but she told me it would be pretty hard to actually play without the left button. She can't really play now and she isn't exactly happy about it. Is there a way to fix it without resetting it? She wants to keep her progress. Thanks.

Since it's essentially broken right now, she needs to take out the battery. Then go to a store like Best Buy and get herself a grounding bracelet and an eyeglass screwdriver set. Carefully take it apart and once all the delicate internals are out of the shell she can be a bit more forceful with the outer screen's plastic and the front shell. There's a chance she could break it further so do at one's own risk, but if she does I'm sure someone has a broken Tama and would be happy to sell off the replacement parts for pretty cheap

Once it's apart, the screen should freely (or relatively freely) lift out from the inside.

From how it was described, it sounds like it got stuck cockeyed. It SHOULD be able to angle and go freely, but if not, they won't be at risk of damaging the internal components if they use a bit more force once disassembled

Absolutely! Though, my guess is that this particular unit may not have been assembled correctly to begin with, and this just went unnoticed until the device was dropped - I can't imagine the force from the drop being enough to force those tabs out from their intended position on the inside.

Definitely! I've dropped many a vpet in my day and those tabs are generally really secure!
