Yes. It stores items, cleaning supplies, and something else. (I can't really remember. 
) But yes, every item you buy will be stored in an item box.

Seeds will show up in the first section with the cleaning products, ("daily necessities") and the toys will be in the second section.
The third screen is for the letters and "happy mail," and the 4th iss for connecting to the dekatama but without other iD L s to connect to, you're only going to get use out of the first two menus.
