I've seen a clip on youtube that shows a tamagotchi passing on an iD version. But I've read that if you don't take care of them, just a goodbye letter appears on screen.

Is this true? Or does the goodbye letter only appear when the tama itself runs away and it dies normally?

The clip can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3_nn3-CEQY

I've only heard of them dying when they are toddlers or teens. (Never as babies because a tamagotchi can't die during that hour, no matter how poor the care.) I guess WHY, they do that is the adult can take care of themselves so they just leave in a huff whereas the teens/toddlers have no choice so they die.

EDIT- OH! I misread the title, I thought it said ID version, not ID L version. Oops. I'm not sure if what I typed applies to the ID L.

You're still correct. According to the iD L manual, characters can die when they are in their toddler and teen stages. However I am unsure if you will lose the items/money when they die because I did not have anyone die on my iD L so far.

Oooh~ Okay so they can only die as a toddler or a teen. Whereas when they're fully grown they just leave, gotcha.

I wanted to test it myself but ;_; I can't neglect a tama. Even if its one I'm not fond of.

Thank you to everyone who responded!

if you take good care of them they just don't die!! its sooo cool. there is not an age limit and you can still visit the matchmaker after 99years.
