Each Tamagotchi character has a "base weight" and once you are too close to the base weight your Tamagotchi will refuse to play games. Therefore you should not discipline your Tamagotchi for refusing to play games- it has no effect other than occasionally making your Tamagotchi unhappy.
You should punish when:
1. You WRAP a gift and then send a present to another Tamagotchi of the SAME version (unless you have a v4 and connecting to a v4.5 or vice versa) and then YOUR Tamagotchi sends the other one a bad gift (snakes, poop). When it comes back it should sit at the bottom of the screen pulling weird faces. If the Tamagotchi you connected to was of a different version or if you did not wrap a gift, don't punish it.
2. Your Tamagotchi beeps and when you check its status it has AT LEAST one hunger heart AND one happiness heart filled.
You should praise when:
1. Your Tamagotchi beeps and it is crying or has its back turned and when you check its status it has AT LEAST one hunger heart AND one happiness heart filled.
