That Rayman: The Animated Series was actually a TV series that aired on FOX in 1999? It all explains here: https://rayman.wikia.com/wiki/Rayman:_The_Animated_Series
It was based off of some of the characters from Rayman 2, like Rayman and Razorbeard, since this Animated Series came out right after Rayman 2's release. However, they were about to make a fifth episode, but it was cancelled before then, so it only had four.
