Color Tamagotchi Custom BGs

I hear that you can make custom BGs for some color Tamagotchis but I can't find out how. Could someone tell me or link me to a tutorial? Thanks in advance.

i would recommend using paint to start out with then Gimp to convert to 16bit, if you have any questions just let me know
