"Cinderella! You are not going to the football match. While me and your stepbrothers go you can ... Clean the house, hoover the floor, make dinner ..."
The wicked stepmother read out a long list of chores that cinderella had to do. Cinderella was in tears. Her favourite team Crystal Palace were playing and she couldn't even go and see them.
At 4pm exactly that afternoon, the ugly stepbrothers and the wicked stepmother left for the match. Cinderella was very upset. She knew that it wasn't her fault that she couldn't go to the match. It was the stepbrothers that had misbehaved.
"Don't forget to clean under the sofa, Cinderella," the wicked stepmother yelled before she left,
"Oh and if you get hungry there is some rats poison in the fridge. Bye!"
The door slammed shut. Cinderella was all alone. Cinderella could imagine enjoying herself instead of cleaning while the family was at the match. But when they came back they would be really angry. Cinderella decided to get out the mop and wash the floor.
BANG!
A noise had come from the kitchen. What was it?
