Chrissy and Friends
Ch. 4: The Engagement
As we read in ch.3, Chrissy and Derrick were on their first date! Love is defiantly in the air. Will Derrick pop Chrissy the big question in time? Do we hear wedding bells? Find out in Chrissy and Friends Ch.4: The Engagement.
The fast tempo of an electric guitar filled the whole car as Chrissy and Derrick stopped in the middle of traffic at a red light. Chrissy looked over to see Derrick slightly bobbing his head to the beat of the music. “ He’s so cute!” Chrissy thought tenderly.
Chrissy turned her head and stared out the window at many people walking on the sidewalk.
“Chrissy? Do you mind if we stop by the SHOP for a moment. I need to pick something up.”
“Why sure Derrick. I don’t mind. I need to freshen up a bit anyway.” Chrissy said cheerfully.
Derrick drove passed the post office and turned into the SHOP parking lot.
“We’re here!” replied Derrick with a charming grin.
Chrissy and Derrick hopped out of the car and strode hand-in-hand into the SHOP.
“O.k. We’ll meet back here in the food court as soon as we are done doing our business.” said Derrick
“Alright. I might stop by a few places and get one or two things.” said Chrissy with a smile.
Derrick hurried off, and didn’t look back.
As Derrick slowly walked out of sight, Chrissy looked around at the many stores and carts that filled the SHOP.
“ I don’t know where to start!” Chrissy thought to herself.
“ I guess I’ll just go to the Gotchi Accessory Store first.” (That was the store were she bought all of her makeup, hair things, and jewelry.)
Chrissy walked into the accessory store and started to look around. She picked up some frilly scrunchis and seemed to be hypnotized by the sparkles and glitter that shimmered in the bright light.
She saw a few people that she recognized from school. Chrissy waved at them and continued on her way. A sales person approached her.
“Hello miss! My you are looking ravishing today! Might I interest you in some Plumeria Mist? It’s this month’s aroma! Did I mention that if you sample our product, I’ll give you a bottle free? Then if you still aren’t interested, I’ll let you pick one thing out of this whole for half price!” he said
“Okay. Why not? I’ll try some.”
The sales person quickly sprayed the mist all over Chrissy. She sniffed the soft fragrance of Sun Kissed Plumeria. She was lost in it.
“So what do you think?” asked the sales man.
“ Mmm. It’s lovely. I’ll take two bottles.” said Chrissy happily.
“That will be 5 points including tax.” said the sales person.
He bagged the two bottles in a small, lavender shopping bag while Chrissy dug out the money.
Chrissy looked at her watch. It read a quarter till seven.
“I’ve got to meet Derrick! I have five minutes till I have to be back at the food court.” Chrissy said aloud. A few customers stared at her. Chrissy hurried out of the store and headed towards the food court.
“Whew! I’ve got a few minutes to spare.” said Chrissy out of breath.
Chrissy heard her stomach growling. She hadn’t eaten since that morning. She and Derrick had been out all day.
“I think I’ll grab a smoothie.” she thought to herself. Chrissy strode over to Sweet Smooches, a smoothie bar, and started to examine the menu. A handsome guy in a white apron came up to her.
“Hello. What can I get you?” he asked her politely.
“Yes, um… I’ll take a large chocolate smoothie please.” Chrissy told him.
“Would you like a straw, or a spoon with that?”
“A straw please.”
“That will be 1 point.” said the man
“Here you go.” Chrissy said
Chrissy walked back to her table, sat down, and waited for Derrick.
After about two minutes, she saw the barbed points of his spiked hair slowly coming into view.
“He’s carrying a bag.” said Chrissy, squinting.
Derrick approached Chrissy. He was sweaty and out of breath. He also looked a little nervous.
“Hey…” Chrissy was cut off short.
“Look.” said Derrick
“I was gonna wait till later to ask you this but..”
Chrissy took a sip of her chocolate smoothie.
“Y yes?” she asked
Derrick kneeled.
“Will you marry me?”
Chrissy almost chocked on her drink.
Derrick tenderly grabbed her hand and slipped a diamond ring on her finger. Chrissy’s eyes were as big as baseballs.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” she screamed
Chrissy jumped into Derrick’s arms and gave him a big chocolaty kiss.
Chrissy and Derrick spent the rest of their date at the Gotchi restaurant. They shared a romantic dinner for two under the stars.
“I love you.” said Derrick
“Right back at ya!” said Chrissy with a grin.
