Thank goodness for best friends like Nicole! I’m so lucky to have her for a friend. She came over yesterday, and we had a great time, along with a talk that really knocked some sense into me.

I had just closed my laptop after researching about coffee burns (there have actually been some really serious cases…) when the phone suddenly rang.

“Hello?” I said sounding as though I had just slithered out of bed. (Even though it was almost 6 p.m.)

“Chey?”

“Hi Nicole.”

“You sound horrible Chey!”

“I feel horrible.”

“You’re not sick are you?”

“No. Didn’t you read my email?”

“Oh, no. Let me read it now.”

We sat in silence for a few minutes while she pulled up her yahoo and read the email.

“You still want me to come over?”

“If you want. You really don’t have to.”

“No Cheyenne. You’ve had a really bad day, and if you want me to come, then I’m coming.”

And that was that. She came, and we talked for almost an hour. She told me that it doesn’t do any good to get all worked up about one little job.

“It’s not like this is the only job opportunity that you have.” She said. “There’s probably dozens of places that are looking to hire. Besides, you don’t even know that you DIDN’T get the job.” (She actually said more, but it would take at least ten more pages to write it all down.)

I felt so much better after our talk. Nicole really has a way of cheering you up when you’re down. She would make an awesome therapist. Hey, she’s so good at what she does; she might as well get paid for it! Anyway Nicole insisted on staying the night, and I had no objections. I asked mom if Nicole could stay, and she had no problem with it. So Nicole called her mom and told her she was staying over at my house tonight and she went home to get some clothes and her toothbrush. I waited patiently on the couch, and when she got back, she walked into the house with a backpack and three Wal*Mart bags.

“What’s all this? I thought you were getting your clothes and stuff.” She grinned.

“I did. But I also got some Hershey bars, Cheetos, Doritos, and two 1 gallon tubs of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. One for me and one for you.”

I don’t think I’ve ever loved that girl any more than I did at that moment. I hugged her and thanked her for everything she’d done, and then we changed into our PJ’s, popped in a DVD, and pigged out on junk food the rest of the night.

So you see what I mean? Nicole is the best friend a girl could have! She’s asleep on the couch downstairs, and I’m about to hit the hey myself. Nicole’s gotta work tomorrow, and I’ve decided to go with her to apologize to Mr. Hernandez (Miracle Pets’ manager) for everything that happened yesterday. Especially for spilling that coffee on him and leaving without apologizing. I guess I was so embarrassed for myself that I didn’t even think that I had really hurt that poor man, and I just left him there like a big jerk. Well, I feel pretty guilty about what I did, so I’m going to swallow my pride and apologize to him first thing tomorrow. Hopefully he’ll be there, and most importantly, I hope he’ll accept my apology.

G’night!
