When you tama is an adult, is it possible for it to change into a different species of an adult?

No. The only thing that will happen is if you avoid breeding with another tama or reject the matchmaker enough, your tama will evolve into one of the old timers. They are grandparent tamagotchis! But no, if you get say a hanatchi, you are stuck with an hanatchi until it gets old.
