Can I connect with bandai tamagotchis with my JD?

I am getting a JD tamagotchi V4, i am wondering if I can connect with my friends and family who have bandai tamagotchis?

I doubt it. However JD may have also copied the Tamagotchi IR connecting communications codes, so it may connect as a V1.
