Can i connect to v5 tamagotchis using a version 5.5?

I found my long lost tamagotchi and i found out it was version 5.5 and my friend would like to play but it seems that version 5.5 tamagotchis are now rare especially in my country. So... i would like to know if version 5.5 tamas could connect with versions 5, 4 and 4.5
